The Steading Livery and Training Centre

At the home of help4horses, The Steading Livey and Training Centre is a small yard between Dunfermline and Kinross.  With a high standard of care, excellent facilities, support and tuition as and when needed you can be sure your horse is in safe hands.

I offer full or part livery only and:
  • Consistent and routine 1:1 care
  • All year turn out - 23 acres split into winter and summer fields
  • 9 Large internal brick stables with mats and drinkers
  • Secure tack-room with individual lockers
  • Wonderful hacking in next-door Blairadam Forest
  • Newly refurbished floodlit 50x25m woodfibre outdoor arena
  • COMING SOON! Separate undercover 20m roundpen

Retirement or Convalescing livery:

  • Due to the peaceful and settled atmosphere we can offer a secure and quiet place for your retired horse to live out their days or help your horse recover from injury.  As well as daily Equissage sessions to help maintain health and well-being, I can provide Equine Touch sessions as well as groundwork to help keep an interest in life and/or to start to bring an injured horse back into work.

Training

  • I have a separate paddock with 2 stables for training horses - I take horses in for remedial training or backing/starting in a non-stressful manner (mares taken too as they are kept in separate facilities so as not to cause any disruption to the boys!).

Limited numbers – quality not quantity important to guarantee happy horses!

He's definately an Equissage addict now!

Horses for Loan / Share

Are you interested in bringing on a young boy over this winter?  He’s a lovely 4yo approx 15hh X.  He came to us to be started and has done really well.  It is planned that he will go back home and be ridden by the families young daughter but due to lack of time (and daylight!) over the coming months, it ishoped that we can find someone who is experienced, calm and encouraging  to bring this lovely boy on a bit more.  He must be kept at this yard so if you think you can help, please contact Julie on 07786 247343 for more information.

16.1 hh, 8 yo Trakehner. This horse came to our yard to be started last year.  He has an elderly owner who bred him. She has great horse knowledge and what education he had from her was excellent but she is unable to keep him as he's now a big boy!  He has pretty much had to learn everything as he had led a sheltered life up until he came to us.  He has no bad experiences of people (great!) and is very trusting and willing to learn although he is a little insecure (always tries to please).  He is backed (using natural methods) and we are happy to continue with his education.  We are looking for someone to loan / share him although he needs to be kept at this yard (in Dunfermline) initially.  He needs a very understanding and patient person to help build his trust and confidence in return he will give you his all!  He loads /travels well is excellent for the blacksmith / vet etc and his education has included long-lining (at home and out and about), voice commands, lots of spook-busting etc to build his confidence.  His manners are impeccable.  Please contact Julie on 07786 247343 for more information on this fantastic boy!   Sorry now loaned!

Port Lewis Impression Pad

We have a “Port Lewis Impression Pad” available for hire.  This will give a pressure readout of your own saddle, with you riding after 30 mins, which could help pinpoint the physical causes of any troubles you might be having.

This should not be used instead of a regular saddle check by a fully qualified Saddle Fitter, but it can be used to check that your saddle continues to fit properly throughout the year.
